MELANIE KUPERSTEIN, ENSEMBLE DIRECTOR
Ms. Kuperstein has been performing and teaching in the area for over 10 years. With a degree in music performance and music education, she teaches a large private studio and also has spent a lot of time substitute teaching in public schools. In addition, Ms. Kuperstein plays with numerous orchestras all over Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia. She frequently performs in leadership and section positions in various orchestras including Maryland Symphony, Fairfax Symphony, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Reading Symphony, and Delaware Symphony to name a few. Melanie has also founded Movement in Music Ensemble, an orchestra which performs classical works from memory with choreography.
ANTHONY SHIELDS,

Born into a musical family in Baltimore, Anthony C. Shields started playing the Violin at the age of eight. Throughout the early years of developing his craft, he began studying with a number of noted teachers in Maryland, such as Rhadi Santos, Linda Molina, and Matthew Horowitz-Lee at the Peabody Conservatory. Anthony Shields went on to receive his Bachelors in Music Performance at the Shenandoah Conservatory, where he studied with Akemi Takayama, Concertmaster of the Roanoke Symphony, and Oleg Rylatko, Concertmaster of the Washington Opera.
After graduating from the Shenandoah Conservatory in 2014, Anthony went on to serve as a Section Violinist for the National String Symphonia, a fully professional symphonic string orchestra under the baton of David A. Fanning. He would later perform along with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony in 2015 as a Section Violinist under the baton of Maestro Julien Benichou.
When there are no performances, Anthony Shields is also an avid and passionate teacher of violin as well as Viola. With over 5 years of teaching experience, Anthony strives to share his knowledge of music with students of all ages, privately, as well as in group settings of all levels, from beginner to advanced in the Harford/Baltimore County area.
CINDY ROSENBERG, CELLO/BASS COACH
Cindy Rosenberg studied at the University of Minnesota with Tayna Remenikova , and at the Juilliard School in New York City with Lorne Munroe. She moved to Maryland in the early 1990’s, where she quickly immersed herself in the local music scene, playing with many of the area’s local orchestras including the Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Symphony, National Philharmonic, Harrisburg and Alexandra Symphonies, among many others. She also contracts orchestras for some local groups such as the renowned Morgan State Choir, as well as events such as weddings, etc. Pursuing her love of jazz, Cindy studied improvisation and jazz with Mark Summer, formerly of the Turtle Island String Quartet, John Blake in Philadelphia, and locally with jazz pianist David Kane. Her jazz trio called MOSAIC develops school shows melding music with academic concepts. Cindy is a dedicated educator with a unique approach tailored to each student's learning styles. She draws ideas and strategies from a number of disciplines, including Educational Kinesiology/Brain Gym, the Suzuki Method (although she is not an officially trained Suzuki teacher), and "The Performer Within" workshops developed by Eloise Ristad (Author of "A Soprano On Her Head"). She works with all ages and levels. Cindy is a frequent adjudicator throughout Maryland. In addition to her private cello studio, Cindy taught for 3 years with the Bridges Program in Baltimore (at the time the outreach arm of GBYO, and she currently teaches through a Montgomery County based outreach program through Strathmore Hall and the Maryland Classic Youth Symphony called Eastern County Strings. In addition, she is adjunct faculty at Carroll Community College and the Assistant Director of the Westminster Symphony Orchestra, an orchestra in Westminster for college students and community members as well.
JORDAN JOHNSON, VIOLIN 2 COACH
Violinist Jordan Johnson has freelanced in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Metro areas since 2010. He has performed and recorded with many of the area's talented organizations including the UMD Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Youth Orchestra, Avanti Orchestra, DC Strings, and CAAPA. A frequent collaborator with Howard University, Jordan has performed under the baton of Dr. Eric Poole, conductor of the Howard University Choir. From George Frederic Handel's Messiah to contemporary composer Tony Small's operetta Qadar, Jordan has played a variety of musical styles across genres and cultures. Most recently, he made his Kennedy Center debut in the stage production of Dr. Terri Allen's Figaro Meets Frederick Douglass in February 2020.
Jordan is also a private instructor. Additionally, he has taught masterclasses and chamber coaching in several institutions, including Johns Hopkins University Peabody Conservatory, University of Maryland College Park, Oxon Hill High School, Parkdale High School, and Maya Angelou French Immersion.
No stranger to historical settings, Jordan has performed in many of the Nation's landmarks such as the Kennedy Center, the Oprah Winfrey Theater at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Metropolitan A.M.E. church, Alfred Street Baptist Church, and Universalist National Memorial Church.
Originally from Glen Burnie, MD, Jordan is a 2014 graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. His principal instructors have included Dr. Gerald Fischbach, Dr. James Stern, orchestral excerpts with Dr. Elisabeth Adkins, and chamber music with David Salness, Evelyn Elsing, and violinist Greg Luce of the Aeolus Quartet.
Outside of music Jordan is an avid practitioner of Spanish and Italian language, explorer of the Smithsonian museums, and enjoys connecting with people from different cultures who have a passion for life, and a vision to work toward their dreams.
WESLEY HAMILTON, VIOLA COACH
Wesley Catherine Hamilton is a violist, violinist, educator, and music theorist based in Baltimore, Maryland. Wesley graduated with her Master's degree in Viola Performance and Pedagogy at Peabody Conservatory in Johns Hopkins University in May of 2023 and is now pursuing her DMA at Peabody. She graduated with the class of 2020 from the University of Georgia with two undergraduate degrees in Music Performance and Music Theory, Summa Cum Laude. Her primary teachers are Professor Victoria Chiang, Professor Maggie Snyder and Dr. Emily Gertsch, PhD.
Wesley is currently teaching viola and violin lessons at Mike’s Music in Ellicott City, Maryland. At Mike's, Wesley teaches 40 violin and viola students weekly ranging from ages 4-55. At Mike's, Wesley teaches all levels of violin and viola from beginner through advanced.
Starting January of 2023, Wesley has been hired as a Strategic Advisor for the Spark Accelerator inside of Johns Hopkins University's FastFowardU. At FFU, Wesley advises a cohort of ventures in early development. Also, Wesley is a Teaching Assistant for Pitching Your Creative Idea, a business portfolio course taught at Peabody Conservatory.
Wesley spent the 2020-2021 school year as an itinerate teacher in the Richmond County Orchestra Program. She was responsible for orchestra programs at Goshen Elementary, McBean Elementary, Hains Elementary, Pine Hill Middle, Butler High, and Cross Creek High School. That year, she taught both face-to-face and online instruction at each school in addition to her private studio.
Wesley attended the Aspen Music Festival for their 2022 summer season where she performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra and studied with Professor Victoria Chiang. While at Aspen, Wesley taught through the AMFS P.A.L.S. program. Wesley has attended the Brevard Music Center for five summers during her high school and college careers in 2015-2017, 2019, and 2021 where she studied with Maggie Snyder and Jenny Snyder-Kozoroz. At Brevard, Wesley performed with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra and the Brevard Camerata where she has held principal positions. Additionally, she attended the Montecito International Summer Music Festival in 2018 where she studied with Yizak Schotten.
